One, Two Buckle, I Mean TIE My Shoe
Walt had a client come over to work on a project for about an hour today. Kennedy entertained herself while Daddy worked. She told me, “Okay, Mom, this is how it happened. Dad was working and my favorite show wasn’t on (amazingly enough because EVERYTHING is her favorite show) and I was looking for something to do. So, I decided to practice tying my shoe on your shoe, and I did it.” She apparently went straight up to Walt to show him (and his client) her latest skill. She was so proud. She told me that she is the only one in her class who knows how to tie her own shoes. I think Mrs. Stults deserves a raise for that alone.
Kennedy has never even come close to tying her shoe before, although we have shown her how. I mentioned the other day that her cousin Myra had learned on Uncle Josh’s shoes, and maybe we should try it on a bigger shoe some day. I guess she took that talk to heart. It reminds me of her potty training experience…we fought and fought and finally after I had given up, she did it. I think the trick with parenting her will be making her think things are HER idea, and then maybe, just maybe I’ll get the result I want. Sound like anyone you know, Mom?

That was my shoe Myra was tying in the video. My feet aren’t THAT big.
