The Reindeer Song
Kennedy’s Christmas concert was last night. Granny and Papa drove over for it. Kennedy didn’t like any of the four songs the second grade sang, except the last one, “Hip-hop Reindeer.” She didn’t crack a smile at all until the boys put on their antlers and sunglasses and began to dance. She had told me that the boys danced inappropriately, so Mrs. V. told them they could dance, as long as they didn’t move their feet.
Another point of contention was that K. really wanted to be one of the dancing reindeer; however, her teacher had told the class that only boys could be reindeer since all the girls would want to wear their pretty Christmas dresses, not antlers. Way to promote sexism, teach. My kiddo hasn’t worn a dress in years. I did get her to put black pants and a Christmas shirt on. She was on the front row, and I think she did a fabulous job!
